Ideas for accessories
The one problem with my job is that I can't talk about specific products any one partner is building. However, I can ask you guys what you'd like to see (and then maybe have it built). Hey, it's great to see more of the zune team on here with blogs. I have a couple of ideas for accessories that would rock:
1)Brown headphones. You guys may already have this on your list. But, I just have to say that a brown zune and headphones combo would be slick.
2)360 Dock. People really look forward to integrating their zune with their 360. A zune dock that utilizes the 360's 2 usb ports and fits flush with the system would be great.
Bill, how about some kind of bluetooth adapter to support wireless earbuds?
Those @#$% earphone cord are a common complaint.
I know bluetooth eats batteries but I think there's a market for cordless earbuds..!!

magnetic headphones would be nice. every since I heard of them at gizmodo I have been dying to know if it is true or false. if possible I would love some magnetic in the ear earpieces. makes it easy to manage cords.
Aside from the excellent idea about cordless earbuds (great idea) - there's one thing you really need:
An INEXPENSIVE iPod adapter/converter. Now before you laugh me out of the building, here's the issue you have:
The world is bombarded by the iPod. They are everywhere and so are their power & functionality accessories. The biggest place that this comes to mind is automobiles. Many manufacturers have been rolling cars out of the factory with iPod adapters built into the factory systems. Without an easy way to adapt to this pre-installation, most people are going to go with the iPod simply because it requires no additional expense or non-factory wiring. There's no way a BMW owner is going to allow a replacement wiring harness to be installed when the could just plugin an iPod an go. Same goes for aftermarket stereo systems that have an iPod adapter that can be added.
The other thing this does is make the transition easier. Like most people I have a bunch of different iPod accessories. Save the people some cash and make it easier to switch. If I have $300 worth of iPod stuff and my iPod tanks, I'm not going to spend $300+ on a new Zune and make all of my iPod stuff instantly useless, and at the same time have to replace it all. I'm going to buy a new iPod and continue to use my iPod accessories.
Finally ... contact these people: http://www.decalgirl.com/ (I don't work for them) and get them a demo unit to skin! They make a great product and it's a great accessory.

Yeah a dock for my 360 would be handy.
Also hows about a dock with a pitch control slider and an audio out?
Then I can hook it up to my decks and use the Zune when I'm DJing! Instead of people emailing days later with "whats that track you played that went 'ohh ohhhhh boom'" I could just, I want to say "Zune it" to them?
Imagine wireless earphones, not the big studio type rather the earplug type.
A portable speaker system with dock that I could carry to work and travel with would be cool.

Premium remote control with LCD screen:
I notice that all of the ipod remotes are pretty boring-looking and have that cheap plastic feel. A premium lcd remote, complete with a zune-like interface on its screen, would definitely get my money. Overall, I hope you guys have a more premium line of accessories, as the ipod accessories always have that cheap, plastic look and feel to them. Look at the Logitech 360 remote as a reference of excellence in this category (lcd remotes).

an emergency battery that runs off aa batteries for people who are travelling

I'd also love to see some mechanism of easy 360 connectivity goodness. I'd also like to see an adapter that I can use to connect my Zune directly to my digital camera (i.e. without going through a PC). They're a lifesaver on the road when your camera's memory is full and you need to dump your shots without a computer.
How about an internal credit card reader, to donate money to the RIAA?
How about personal area network earphones (transmit power/data using contact with the skin)
Bluetooth remote control with oled display of the current file being played and an adjustable belt clip.
I think and wireless AV dock would be a killer gadget. You would use Zune as a remote to stream music and videos to it. An SD video decoding hardware is not a big deal for a long time now. If the interface was then enhanced to accept files from a desktop PC (while still using Zune as a controller - MCE style), this would make a killer streaming device, better than apple itv and all others! Well, this is my wishfull thinking at least!

I saw some accessories 'leaked' (search Froogle for Zune, mfg Microsoft). Cool stuff! I had a suggestion for the wireless remote (though it's probably too late). My XM MyFi wireless remote stinks, simply because I can't read the screen on the MyFi from across the room. My SoundBlaster Wireless Music, on the other hand, has a small 4-line display on the remote -- which makes all the difference in the world.
I guess Sonos probably wins the award for best remote -- of course, their remote is more expensive than the Zune. But, I'm hoping that your remote has some visible feedback, and does not rely on my ability to read a 3" display from across the room. If I am close enough to the Zune to read the screen, I'm close enough to use the buttons on it.

how bout an adapter that would allow you to use any ipod built accessory. Be it a boom box or whatever.
All these "ideas" are obvious, you should automatically do them....Thats why you get paid the big bucks anyways right!

What I want probqbly has a decent market, and is probably going to cost some bucks...
I, and about 2 million other people in the U.S., ride Goldwing motorcycles.
What I want to be able to do is put my zune in the faring pocket to charge it and control it from the handlebars.
Preferably from the existing audio controls.
And possibly with a small screen that would mount on the dash or handlebars.
