Pink Zunes in the wild
So, it looks like our lifestyle marketing team pulled a fast one on us. Apparently they shipped 100 pink Zunes and hid them in plain boxes Willie Wonka style. It's rare that they are able to pull off a coup like that without anyone knowing internally. Good job! I knew I should have sold my pink unit on Ebay a couple of weeks ago (just kidding honey!)

Are you implying that someone knowingly at Microsoft put pink Zunes in retail boxes marked as black, white, or brown? I hope not.
The recipients also get to visit Billy Wonka and play with all of his oompas and latest software
What a major marketing mistake, Microsoft.
So, you are telling me, I might go to the store wanting a brown Zune, drop down $250 on said device, and end up with a *pink* one? What the hell am I supposed to do... be *happy*?
So, now I'd have to either return it to the store... who will be *thrilled* that they have to accept an open box return because I didn't get what I paid for.... and then buy *another* "brown" Zune hoping beyond hope that I get what I want?
Brilliance. Sheer brilliance. With marketing like this, the Zune is destined to succeed! Not!
Again, this was a total surprise to me. Apparently there is a coupon for an exchange if you don't want the pink.
Bill here is a thought: Microsoft sends 1000 camouflage colored Zunes (with a/c chargers) to our troups fighting in Iraq. Set up a place on Zune.net so we can upload thank you messages in MP3 format that MS loads on the players with some music. Then the troups can hear some tunes and the voices of a grateful nation.
as if anyone is going to whinge about copping a pinky which they can flip on gbay for seven fiddy to buy three more zunes with. or exchange with the slip if they are retarded.
big ups to the clever bugger who came up with the idea. it is these sort of stunts which builds hype and heaps of free net publicity.

what is going to stop store owners going through their stock looking for the legal fine print on the box which states that it fact contains a pink zune?
let me rephrase that.. what is going to stop store owners getting their staff to go through the boxes a la Verucas dad!
