Before any of you make a wise-crack about the color (it's for my wife. Merry Christmas honey), I thought it would be cool to show you our ship gifts. They came in either pink or orange (the colors of the energy bar). What do you guys think?

It's interesting, though I'd caution Microsoft against going the Creative Zen route and trying all sorts of neon colors in an attempt to dazzle buyers. I'd rather have a deep red or blue.
I'm sure your wife will like the pink one but perhaps since she has been a Zune widow for the last 11 months a non-Zune related gift may be in order.
The color I'd like to see is Cobalt Blue with an orange inner-glow.
Pink with a black double-shot would have my wife swooning.
On a side note, I picked up the black one and have only one question... how in the world can you play music back from the Zune software?! I loaded it up with music from home, loaded the Zune software on my work computer and now I can't seem to actually play the music while my iPod co-worker mocks me as he streams the music just fine from iTunes.
This means two things of course, one that I'll be stuck listening to his music all day and that I'll need to return the Zune if I can't actually play the music!
IT'S STILL A CRAPPY ZUNE. If you really want pink get an iPod nano or a pink case for any other iPod. I'd rather have an iPod that doesn't have as many features, but all of them work and is not a brick. That 30 gig zune is as big as my 60 gig iPod in it's case!

why do you feel the need to post your hate for the Zune? it is obvious you don't have one, so if you don't have any hardware/software problems, and you have no desire to purchase a Zune, please refrain from posting on a Zune blog.

The pink zune is pretty awesome. I hope other 3rd party companies release new cases for the Zune in the future.
Mark, It's definitely not over hyped. Actually there are so many die hard apple ipod fans out there, that they don't see the innovation Microsoft has created. When I first handled the IPod I thought it was great for the superior functionality. However, I'm willing to give up a small bit of functionality for the extra features the Zune has. Because of dedication to one product for (sometimes) mindless reasons, instead of logical, it will be difficult to break the IPod strangulation apple has on the market.
Plus I hope that the wireless will be used in more and more innovative ways such as businesses inviting people to come "inside to get songs from our zune." I feel the wireless option has many unknown possibilities that are going to be taken advantage of in the near future.

The trouble with the iPod (apart from the fact that firmware upgrades toast my shuffle every single time) is that it's become a religion; people don't think about what they want from a media plyer, they just follow the congregation like good little zealots. There have been better players and better software, but no one with Apple's (excellent) marketing. I have come this close to buying a Nona, even though I don't need it and know that iTunes sucks in terms of serving my particular needs.
So roll on MS, some competition for the iPod is very healthy and there are some innovative features to make users think.

I would have killed for this pink Zune especially since my old 20gb non color Ipod was dying but now that I have the damned thing I'm tired of it! And I only got it TWO DAYS AGO!
I work for BestBuy and when the Zune first came out I was psyched. The only disappointment was I wasn't totally loving the colors than I saw this gorgeous thing and fell in love. Since my birthday was coming up I got it a couple weeks early since I'm going on vacation.
I had some issues with it the first night but I was fine with them. However now whenever I connect the thing the computer claims is foreign software and the computer asks if I want to get on the computer as a guest or sync it to the current computer. Not. Cool. I deleted everything off of the Zune now. I had over 3,000 songs and some pictures on it. The second time I plugged it in the stuff that came on it automatically deleted. I was going to take all my stuff off and reload it with the preloaded songs pics and videos but I've decided its wayyyy too much of a hassle (gave me issues when I tried to reinstall the software and plug in the MP3 player. I'll let the next buyer put the original stuff back on it if they want it. I'm done.
So I guess this means unfortunately I have to go back to Ipod. I don't like the looks of the ZEN but need the GBs. I love the interface of the Zune and the over all look as well as some of the extra features. But like usual Apples software just plain works better.
