New Year Give-Away
So, you saw me inquire about silicon cases a few posts ago. I have a custom made silicon case prototype I'm going to give away to the person with the best Zune Christmas story. It could be sharing, accessories, gifts, playlists, etc. In 100 words or less, tell me what happened over the holidays. Pictures are welcome. I reserve the right to pick the best one and award the case to the story I deem the best example of "Zuneism."

I woke up early on christmas eve. I ate my breakfast and then I just tried to make the hours go faster. And finally it was christmas present opening. I saw i little package formed like an Ipod box (I tought). But then, when i opened it I saw the little Zune logo. The logo made me the happiest guy on earth. Now I am one of the few guys in Sweden to have a Zune! And I love it!! :D

During by break from school I have been on a quest to find a Pink Zune. The best part of my quest has been talking with store employees and customers. My quest may be for a Pink Zune but what I have learned is that people...all people... really do enjoy helping others. I’ve been so amazed by how others are able to get excited about my quest. People’s willingness to help has been touching and inspiring. It sounds silly but I feel so much closer to my fellow man(person) today then when I started my quest.
So my x-mas story isn't really about Zune, but about how non-techie a lot of people is...
My girlfriends brother got a Zen-something and his mother and aunt was discussing the difference between an iPod and MP3... One of them said "MP3 is larger and can hold more songs. Creative and others make them. iPods are smaller and more expensive". And the other one responded: "And you can not use iTunes with the MP3, you need and iPod then". :)

On Christmas day to my surprise the gleam of ham was in my eyes. My trusty Zune was close to me, in a pocket near my knee. I peered towards the Christmas tree, the lights and bulbs excited me. I pulled out my Zune for all to see and flipped on some sweet ACDC. I turned it off then sat to eat, the Christmas dinner I knew I'd meet. Without my sweet Zune I'm sure it would be just another Christmas day to me. We went to presents, which I love to see. To my surprise, I got a Wii.

Well, I'm Jewish, so you're not gonna hear a Christmas story from me, but I'll tell you that I proselytized the best I could. Not being old enough for the Masters program (1 more year), I allowed my Zune to be scratched, poked, prodded, have the d-pad spun to ill effect, and each feature, from the RDS song titles, to the wireless, to the magnetic headphones shown off. My favorite thing to do is to scratch the back as iPod users stare in horror, then calmly wipe it off, showing no lasting damage. Try doing that with an iPod!
My Zune Holiday Story involves Bill's ability to pick partner's that make quality products (because sucking up always works!)...I was meeting up with fellow Zune users in Chicago, and Cesar Menendez of the Zune Team at a cafe in Lincoln Park.
We were chatting about what music we were listening to and I passed Cesar my Zune to take a look at...he dropped it...but luckily the Zune was sporting the Vaja Balance case, and there was no damage!
Turns out Cesar is a little clumsy...he said he only drinks water for that very reason, who knew.

I downloaded about 40 Christmas songs from the Zune Marketplace (Pass) to show my wife how cool the subscription service is. Sure enough, she wanted to hear a song her sister was looking for, "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" and I just happen to have it. I wanted to buy her a Zune for Christmas but she said she would not use an mp3 player. I think I may have changed her mind
My 16-year-old daughter had asked for "a nano or a Zune" for Christmas.
I suspected that she would have preferred a nano, and that she added the "Zune" part out of deference to her father-who-runs-a-Zune-site.
But, I gave her a black Zune anyway... and she has been thrilled with it!! I think she really loves having something different from so many of her friends.
I was pleasantly surprised by her reaction, and she's having a blast showing it off to her girlfriends.
As she said, when all of your friends' mothers have nano's, how cool can that be? :)

My christmas zune gift was not a fresh new zune under the tree, but a new zune under everyone elses tree. before christmas i hadnt been able to use wifi even once, but this changed once my brother opened up his new zune on christmas day. the real suprise came today, the first day back at school after the break. just out of curiousity i decided to click over to the rarely used community tab when i was waiting to go home. astoundingly not one, nor two zunes appeared on my nearby screen, but a whopping 6. it was an absolute feeling of ecstasy as i began to share to my hearts content.
Okay, I received my Zune for Christmas, and I must admit, I had never heard of a Zune before opening that package. "Oh thanks honey - nice box. Is it like an iPod?" I had mentioned quite a while before Christmas that I would like an iPod or mp3 for Christmas, and my husband diligently investigated it, and found that the Zune was the new up and coming "IT" thing, and also got me a case and the home av kit.
I am totally in love with my Zune and am enjoying showing him off to my iPod owning friends and family - "Look at the size of this screen - great picture huh?" "Oh, don't you have a radio on your ipod?"
My only regret is that I have not yet met up with anyone else with one, but I am confident that in time, as we all get out there and share our love of the Zune, I will get to meet someone else.

My wonderful wife, making up for last years Christmas gift debacle (which consisted of a travel steamer, and an alarm clock), gave me a Zune Christmas Morning. She had heard me "mention" (several times) how bad I wanted one. I couldn't wait to get it up and running, so off to the computer I went, leaving a few unopened presents in my wake.
It was charged and fully synched just in time to go to my parents for Christmas Brunch. Having my entire family there, I couldn't wait to show it off. 3 of my nieces had just recieved video Ipods and were seated at the table comparing and admiring their new toys. I calmly walked in, wished everyone a Happy Holidays and placed my Zune in the center of the table and walked away. It wasn't more than 2 minutes before all three of my nieces were gathered around the Zune and admiring the larger screen, crisp picture, "awesome" graphics, and cool brown color. After I explained how the wireless worked, they started takling about how cool it would be if THEY could exchange songs on their ipods. Needless to say, my sister and sister-in-law were not very happy with me OR my Zune. The next three hours my nieces fought over who got to use it next. All the while their new ipods sat discarded on a nearby endtable, and I was given more dirty looks than I could count. When it came time to clean up, my sister sarcastically asked me if my fancy new toy knew how to do dishes. Not, yet, but maybe with the next software update!!
I couldn't wait to go home and have it to myself for a while. The "while" turned out to be about 5 hours. My wife called me downstairs about 10 times but finally gave up and went to bed in a huff. So to sum it all up, my new Zune ended up giving me one angry sister, one even angrier sister-in-law, three jealous nieces, and one lonely neglected wife. Thanks for the best Christmas ever!!
