Aluminium Cases
I'm in the middle of doing our quarterly business reviews. That's basically where we meet with all the partners and talk about the future roadmaps. It turns out that lots of folks are planning on making aluminium cases. Now, I've never been a fan of them. But I thought I'd ask you guys what you think.

Aluminium housing option gooood. 3rd party aluminium cases laammme.
Gotta say, not feeling the love for an aluminium case. The Vaja Classic Top Retro Case, now *that* is a case.
I'm not sure I even get the point of an aluminium jacket.
Cases are not my thing. Anodized Aluminium tends to scratch easily.
I am looking 3rd Party hardware that will extend Zune's capabilities such as..
- Microphone Plug-in for Voice/Lecture Recording
- Memory Card Reader w/USB Plug-in to transfer files and/or use Zune at a photo kiosk
one other major 3rd Party product I forgot to mention is..
Car Mobile/WIFI Router with Zune dock. It would replace my car stereo and use my mobile provider for internet access. With this I could access MarketPlace content directly from my Zune and even stream content. Not to mention, i can use my laptop on business trips.
Yeah I'm with everyone else. Alum enclousures aren't so nice. They just don't feel good in your hand. The feel of the Zune is so nice. That slight texture is so... I don't know just nice.
I'd buy a case if Microsoft made one with the double-shot.
Bill, just want to pass this onto you. Life Fitness, largest workout equip manufacturer, plans on supporting iPod/Dock on their upcoming products.

Hopefully you are working with these guys to make sure Zune is supported as well.
Also, any chance to get Sync into some premium car manufacturer's like Infinity or Lexus to compete with BMW's iPod support?

johncz- You've been busy. :) Let's see. Microphones are not likely for the near future nor are card readers. I am actively exploring both, but I don't see anything in the immediate future. There are a couple of folks doing a hub-like device for the car and those could be out in the next 6 months. I'm not working with LifeFitness, but I do talk to several equipment manufacturers regularly. Lastly, I used to work on other streaming devices (like the Denon receiver) in Windows. It is a natural fit for the Zune.
I'd buy one. Unlike other cases, the Aluminum ones are indestructible. In fact, I looked for a Rhino case for it when it launched, but no such luck. I have one on my Axim and I'm certain it's saved the thing from being crushed numerous times.
