OK, so now you guys know what we've been up to and why I haven't been blogging as much as usual. To say things have been busy is a bit of an understatement. New firmware for v1. Check. New devices. Check. Check. New software client. Check. New features. Check (check, check, check...) MP3s in Marketplace. Check. New Social website. Check. I think you guys get the idea.
I'm going to monitor the press coverage over the next couple of days. as I see areas where I can add some color commentary, I will. I'm also going to ask some of the accessories partners if they would be willing to share some of their new products with you guys. I'm betting one or two will take me up on the offer.

Bill, I am a v1 owner and look forward to the Firmware and software updates. I am also looking forward to adding a Zune 4 or 8 to my zune pass for my wife to use. She has borrowed my Zune 30 a couple times and is starting to get hooked on the Zune pass for exploring music. Thanks J...

I'm just curious as to what are the major reasons to get the gen2 Zune's over the gen1 Zune's besides a 0.2" screen and ZunePad? Will the gen2 be supported longer (and possibly get gen3 feature firmware next year) or what?

Adam - one of the core accessories design goals has been backwards compatability. So, the team worked very hard to ensure your old stuff works with the new devices. I'm personally very happy about that decision. FWIW, I use an old charger even though I have access to any new one I want.
Brian - In addition to what you outline, capacity and size are the biggest drives for the next gen product. At 80G, it has significantly larger storage than v1. The physical size is also signifiantly smaller. It is roughly the same size as a classic with a much bigger screen.
Tom - re lossless, I am not sure. I don't believe there is any hardare reason that it wouldn't work as the processors are very fimilar (both Freescale). However, I'm not a SW engineer, so I may miss something obvious.

Bill: I absolutely love my Home AV kit (even though I only really use the dock and remote). I've had the remote since March, and have used it pretty much daily. I'm really impressed that it hasn't died on me yet. (I also like the removable cover thing, which I understand is to allow the dock to fit the new Zunes).
In looking over the new accessories, one thing I noticed was the new Zune remote seems to be lacking buttons for the volume + and -. The implementation of this was one of the weakest features, but I liked the idea (the dedicated buttons weren't context-sensitive, and quickly accomplished what I wanted them to.) Why is it gone? And why refresh the accessories in the first place?
Final question: is the new remote touch-sensitive like the Zune Pad or tactile like the Zune 30 and Gen1 remote?
