I didn't see it live, but saw the link Cesar posted on his blog. Very interesting ad. I would have liked to see the device more during the ad, but the message of "You make it you" gets portrayed well.
Can't wait for the Zune80! :D
I agree with Brian, Zune needs more face time. Show how Zune brings it all together and connects you to the things you love.
I definitely agree with you two. And while the "touching the screen" thing was cool, it might've reminded people of "the other guy".
TechCrunch posted its impressions of the ad, and while it was still very much anti-Zune, a number of commenters asked (that's a nice way of putting it) if he was getting paid by Microsoft. Kinda funny, really.
I've got an issue not related to the latest blog.
I recently purchased a Zune and I've been trying to update the firmware, but with no success. I have tried all of the "tricks" that I've found, but I continue to receive the same annoying error message. Does anyone know how I can get my firmware updated? I'm deployed to Iraq and also purchased the Altec Lansing powered speaker, but I'm unable to use my Zune with it until I update the firmware.

darryl - Are you updating via the PC client? I'm guessing that it might be blocked because you are outside the US. See if you can access the marketplace from where you are. If you can, you should be able to update. If not, let me know. If you can send it to me, I'd be happy to update it for you and send it back.
Darryl: If you're at least somewhat technically inclined, you can try downloading the firmware from http://msxb-d1.vo.llnw.net/zune/Zune01040485.cab and update it onto your Zune (place the .cab in your Program Files\Zune\Firmware folder and update the xml... e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send it to you.)
If that still doesn't work, I'd recommend waiting 'til November 13 when the new desktop client and firmware will be coming out. Good luck!
I think the Zune needs more advetising than it actually gets right now...
But I was wondering if I could interview anyone on here about the second generation Zune that is releasing? I'm writing an article about it for my high school newspaper.
